A Journey to South Philly’s Best Pizza Spot: Mexican Pizza Madness and Flavor Explosions

Introduction: Welcome Back YouTube!

So there’s a restaurant in South Philly going viral right now for the Mexican pizza. The news is saying that this is one of the best pizzas in the country. Y’all, a South Philly pizza shop is in the national spotlight, just named one of the best in the country. So you already know we’re about to head to South Philly real quick to try this.

7-Eleven Day Shenanigans

You already know it’s 7-Eleven Day, so I had to pop out, grab the free slushie. Oh yeah, they got these nice cups and all that. Exclusive! You already know we’re grabbing one. Some of you guys were wondering, like, “Did my voice change or am I going through puberty?” I’ve been feeling under the weather for a little bit, haven’t been feeling good. Honestly, I’m realizing this: I feel like it’s the food reviews. These restaurants are probably spitting in my food or something. There’s no reason I should be getting sick all the time.

Heading to South Philly: Mexican Pizza Quest

We’re going to do a little bit of this and a little bit of that, grab a mix of blue and red slushies, and top it off with the red. Then it’s off to South Philly! We’re at the San Lucas Pizza, and they say this is some of the best pizza in the United States. The hype is real.

The Pizza Shop Verdict

So I walk in, and the guy says, “Is this really some of the best pizza in America?” He says, “It’s good, but it’s not my number one.” He thinks it’s solid but not the best. They’re talking about the Mexican pizza with avocado on top, jalapeños, and all that good stuff. That Mexican pizza definitely hits hard, though. I give it a solid 9 out of 10. Best in Philly for sure, but maybe not the best in the country.

Ordering the Pizza and Finding the Right One

After some confusion with my order, I finally got the right pizza, the Alp Pastor, which they’re known for. The Mexican pizza is cool, but it wasn’t the one they were talking about. I ordered the wrong pizza at first, but once I got the right one, things started to look up.

The Mexican Pizza Review

The Mexican pizza is cheesy, with jalapeños, avocado, and a super spicy tomato sauce. The flavors sneak up on you. It’s definitely spicy, but not in a bad way. I’d give it an 8 and a half out of 10. It’s a solid pizza. Even though I don’t usually eat spicy food, this one hit me right.

Trying Out the Wings

Next up: wings. Mango habanero wings with a bit of ranch. They’re saucy and look pretty good. I’m not a fan of blue cheese, but that ranch is perfect. The wings are a little sweet and spicy, with a crispy outer layer. I’d rate them a 9, but if they were a little more well-done, they’d be perfect.

Final Thoughts on the El Pastor Pizza

Now, the El Pastor pizza. This is the one they say is the best. It’s got cilantro, onions, and chicken, but for me, it didn’t blow me away as much as the Mexican pizza did. The Mexican pizza had more flavors, more toppings. This one just didn’t have as much of a punch. I’d give it a 7 out of 10. It’s solid, but not as exciting.

Conclusion: A Good Time in South Philly

All in all, the pizza journey in South Philly was worth it. I got to try the Mexican pizza, and although it wasn’t the best pizza I’ve had, it was still a really solid choice. If you’re ever in the area, definitely check out San Lucas Pizza and give it a shot.
